BIG HELLO! from avid hammock camper NW Missouri!

Great site! Love hammock camping, and cooking tasty meals around the campfire, If anyone in the NW Missouri area wants to hang out, no pun intended. That would be great, I have several good spots that I love to winter camp with my hammock, and also have a canoe to reach some really remote spots.

Also too, I just started making and selling paracord hammocks. If anyone is interested, please visit my website at... http://www.paracordhammock.com

Look forward to seeing ya on the trail!

your hammocks look great. any info on weight and packed bulk? i don't know what it is like to sleep in one, but they could be fitted with an under quilt and walking poles for head/foot end i guess. welcome to hf!

    Kobold,

It's not an ultra light setup by todays standards, but nothing when compared to a good nights rest. With end ropes it weighs in at 3lb 3oz. And packs down to the size about 30% larger than a standard US military poncho. From what I have seen, I think an underquilt would be no problem. I have used a wool blanket as an insulator, and miltary cold weather bag down to 0F, and no problems.

The cool thing about the paracord hammock, is that it is very durable, and probably would hold a small car, so weight capacity is not an issue.

I'll admit I usually never hike more than a few miles to a location. I usually canoe to my locations.

I will be shootng more pics and video as soon as I get my HD camera back from repair, and posting on my site at http://www.paracordhammock.com

    Hope this info was helpful!

Glad to be a part of the community, thanks for welcoming me!
