pad in traveler

I'm considering getting a WB traveler double to use with a 26" wide downmat when its real cold. (I have a MW short for milder weather) Clarification, not getting the Traveler for colder weather, but want to be able to take a pad with me as part of core gear and when its real cold, I want to be able to use my Exped downmat in a hammock instead of going to the ground with it. (which I di this past weekend and was so pleased with the downmat that I want to use it more, just not necessarily on the ground).

So, anyone with experience using a wide inflatable pad in the DL WB Traveler? Any other suggestions? Had always had my sights on a BB, but I think I want to keep weight and bulk down as much as possible (so I can carry the downmat).

with the double layer you can slide the pad between the layers. When I was using a pad I would just not inflate it fully. I don't see it being a problem. You could go with a warm underquilt though. I love the winter incubator from hammock gear paired with the traveler

I've used a pad in my DL Traveler no problem. Will work great just as you intend. I picked up this hammock for the same reasons you are considering. Had it for almost a year now and love it.

I have a single layer hammock for warmer weather, and this double layer hammock so I can use a pad for added warmth when needed. I prefer the UQ, but the pad helps me us a lighter weight UQ and go a little cooler than rated.

Slightly off topic but i used a ridgerest solite in my single layer 1.1 the other day as it was down right frigid out. The pad was comfortable just placed on top (you can angle it in your exact asymm position whichI find nice) so i'm sure a double layer would be even better. -- happy hanging
