Continuous Amsteel Loops w/ Descender Rings

    Hey Y'all,

I have some amsteel on the way to make some continuous loops to replace the stock rope in our ENO DNs. My daughters and I all use rings & straps for suspension. Should I build the loops so they pass through the rings and the rings move freely or would it be better lark's head the rings to the loop?

I found larksheading a tad more secure for descender rings. It keeps one ring from sliding too much into the other. As rip said, they are also removable.

What they said. In fact I'd do an extra wrap around to turn the lark's head into a prusik, applies more force to keep the rings aligned.

Easiest (but not rigorously necessary) to put the prusiks on the cord before attaching the cord ring to the hammock end.

Thanks y'all. I was wondering if keeping the rings aligned made a difference. I'd already thought of attaching the rings to the loop before sliding the loop through the channel in the hammock. Didn't think of a prusik though...great idea!

I'm pretty new to all this but I went rings and loops too. I went back and forth on putting the loop through the ring. I keep them separate. One, to keep the rings together(as I didn't know how well it would work otherwise) and two, so I could take it all apart as I change up my suspension.
I have been using a larkshead to connect the rings and loops, but I like the idea of using the prusik.

Picked up a set of SMC rings over the weekend and got some Amsteel in the mail today from twoisles. Had to give making continuous loops a try while my better half was off to the grocery store.

Not too difficult and they didn't turn out half bad, if I do say so myself...

Got Jenna's loops and rings installed in her hammock...mine is next...

Those are replacing the black cords with the big knots in the eno DN right? That looks like it may be my next/first DIY project! How much do they weigh?
