Haha I'm in the same stage you are right now. I'm completely in love with my hammock. Can't wait for my next excuse to set up all my gear. I'm constantly trying to find "the next big thing" or something I could use. It's a strange addiction I didn't see coming when I got into this.

when you start looking at 'thread injectors' to make your own gear, you are well down that slippery slope to obsession..

Tell me about it. I just purchased some new hardware for another alcohol stove and some DIY tarp stakes. It feels empowering to build your own gear. But at the same time it can make you feel like an addict. I guess hammocking is its own drug.

Ya, it does seem like slippery slope. I got one of my moms old sewing machines. After hemming my hammock, making tree straps, and converting a stuff sack into a bishop bag I can see how.
I can make anything , JK

I do see the the advantages of DIYing. Most of my DIY projects have been wood or metal related. Sewing is a new chapter for me. Once I build up my sewing skills I think I will try to fill the voids in my gear collection, mostly caused by don't like it, or can't afford it.

Well if this is a sickness I think I'll be ill till they come up with a cure that sounds like crickets and white water. ( I thought that sounded good until I realized that the cure would only make me sicker. )

It's not a sickness, addiction, whatever... I can stop anytime I want. Really! I can... I just don't WANT to... yeah... that's it... I don't want to...

I've spent most of my free time lately fiddling with gear, looking for gear, reading about gear, thinking about.... ok you get the picture (and understand my affliction too)
