[Video] Packing the Zpacks Exo for Hammock Camping

I've seen a lot of videos on how folks pack their hammock gear for various trips and picked up a lot of great pointers that helped me figure out a method that was quick, easy, and comfortable for me. Made a video of how I've been packing the exo for a typical, non-winter hammock camping trip. I've had great results with the compartmentalization and wanted to share (for those interested in ultralight hammock camping set-ups).

Hey Rook,

That is a very well laid out setup for the pack you have. It gave me a few new ideas. I'm still changing the way I pack my gear as my gear keeps changing. Everything is getting smalle,r lighter and much better. UThe Sawyer Squeeze is a great little water filter. The hip pocket is a perfect place to store it.

Glad it gave you a few ideas, the brainstorming session that is Hammockforums.net is a great thing. As for the Squeeze, seemed like the only place that it made much sense to keep it, other than in the side pocket with the water bladder, where I was worried it might slip out. Thanks for watching!

Very clean system. Makes me want to pick up on of those Exo's. I especially like what you pack your hip pockets. What's the base weight of this non- load out?

Current base-weight: 5.7lbs - usually ends up around 6lbs when I stick a last minute item (or two) in there .

Took a peek at your pack....very neat. So, do you always keep your hammock suspension separate from the hammock?

Thanks for watching Shug, and yes, I always keep the straps separate (the whoopies stay attached) since I'd need to disconnect the whoopies from the Dutch Buckle to wrap the strap around the tree - I find keeping them in the hip belt pocket with my tarp suspension lets me set-up that much quicker when I make camp. Also - couldn't resist the chance to show off the new BlackRock, I had no idea the "BlackRock Family" was so big but it seems bigger than the Black Bird flock!

I can't wait for my EXO to arrive!

I'd like to see a full layout of your gear ROOK. Food, clothes, quilts, etc.
What temps are you capable of hanging/hiking in?

Another video will make it's way up showing a better break down of my summer/winter gear lists. I'll work on it over the next few weeks - I have some cold weather layering items coming in I'd like to include so I'll have to wait on those.

This video is of what I'd pack for a trip above 40* - and for "Winter" right now I'm only gonna be good down to *20.

Around another 3lbs would be added to go down to 0* - in the form of a pod-style insulation addition.

Current base-weight: 5.7lbs

At that weight, why did you go with the EXO and not a Blast? For that load, seems that the carbon stays are not really needed. Can they be removed? My base is around 8lbs and the Blast is more than sufficient to carry the load. Heck sometime I wonder if I even need the hip belt. I thought of getting the EXO before deciding to go with the Blast. Wondering what your thought process was when choosing the EXO.
