Down underwear work great when riding a motorcycle in winter. Had to do that one winter.

No, No pad was used and the top was 64+64 for the bottoms =128 of warmth and comfort....LOL

I have used the cabelas down top and bottom for some time and always am quick to recommend them. Alot of people want to go drop big bucks on fancy name brand down sweaters and down pants. I find that for the price of the cabelas ones you cant go wrong. The one down side is that they dont have pockets, but that does not bother me.

I layer mine with some capaline 3 usually as a baselayer with a pair of bdu pants over the down pants, and a l/s columbia hiking shirt over the top and am easily comfy around camp down to 5-15Fish depending on wind. I add in a wool sweater and am good down to below 0. To go even lower I add a hardshell. Using capaline 3, l/s merino wool midweight shirt, heavy weight wool sweater(old ww2 british army one), cabelas down top, and my hardshell I can do -30F in comfort.

Forgot to mention, cabelas currently has a $10 off no minimum coupon, and a 10$ a purchase of 50 or more. Sadly its not a universal code. They sent out the flyer at the beginning of Nov and its good until the end of the month. So if you know someone that gets cabelas catalogs/coupons in the mail ask them for their code!

I have the pants. If you catch them on sale you might catch them for around $40 a piece. Probably not until spring though....

I like them pretty well. They're 550 fill which means they are not as light or compressible as higher fill number garments would be. I don't use mine often, but they are my only down pants so I will use them when I need something warm and compressible for in the pack...

These pack down to the size of a loaf of bread. I am sooooooooooooo happy with these..... I really wish I had found them years ago.

That is pretty awesome! Did the down top and bottom overlap much? I have some Western Mountaineering down pants that cost a darned bit more than that, but they compressed enough to leave my backside cold.
