Last week I took my hammock for it's first hiking trip. Me and a friend hike a trail near Luray Virginia spend tonights in the woods. I have used my hammock before but not in cold weather. The first night was to be in the low 30's so me and my wife made a home made under quilt out of a cheap sleeping bag and I brought my 0 degree bag as a top quilt. The camp site was great but not very shield from wind. Set up of the tarp and hammock was quick and easy but setting up the DIY under quilt was a little tough(first time use). The first night got down in the low 30's with a slight breeze. I got a little cold around the upper back. But I fell asleep really easy and sleep thru the night. I was chilled when I woke up but not uncomfortable. The next night I shoved a ton of leaves into the under quilt to add some insulation. And of course that next night it did not get below 50 degrees. That night I was hot and had to sleep half out of my bag. Overall a great trip and am going to DIY and better under quilt.
Here is a slide show of the trip ( I'm the big one)
