    Smile New Gear! PICS!

    Yes pics, proof it happened.

O.K. so I finally got a lot of stuff together and need to talk about it. I've been collecting a lot of new gear recently and have been dialing in my setup. It's been especially difficult b/c I recently moved to the other side of the country.

    First, the big stuff-

WB Mamba 3season TQ. Oh boy is this thing fluffy and wonderful, so happy. My first true TQ and I'm stoked! 'Nuff said here.

Tenkara fly fishing setup. pgibson hooked me up with a sweet setup. I went over to his tenkara website and ordered a few extra flies, some nippers/forceps, and tippet. I haven't fly fished before but I can't wait to waste some time in the water! 13' 7:2 rod, furled line, nippers, forceps, tippet, fly box (super light weight!), and like... 23 flies. They all weigh like... NOTHING! It's unreal how light it all is.

ULA Circuit. Got this from good ole Cranky Bear, it's still in the mail but I know exactly what I'm getting. (Anyone wanna buy a Deuter pack? :roll eyes: ) I think most everyone here knows what a Circuit is.

    Other stuff-

Dutch stuff. I ordered a pair of Dutch buckles and some webbing straps (for my WBBB 1.0 DBL), also ordered a set of whoopies from Lymphocytosis (hope I spelled it right ). How awesome is this- Dutch sent everything over to Lymphocytosis with a few little tiny hooks and put it all in the whoopies for me, then sent it on to me! Talk about effortless?! These little hooks are sweet for hanging anything onto the whoopie slings for storage... they can also take some weight! (I put my backpack on the hook just to prove a point). I ran into a problem with the straps and Dutch proved why he's not only the greatest hiker in the world (and easy on the eyes), but also the best at customer service! ALL HAIL HIS MIGHTY DUTCHNESS! Also I saved over 3.25 ounces over my stock cinch buckle setup! (Not including biners, either!)

Diaz Tools. Talked with Buenos about a custom knife... his workmanship is top notch! Originally I wanted the lightest possible knife (his Rana knife), which rivals the Izula and Becker knives in weight. I decided to go with his Frog Leg knife simply b/c I love the design so much (it's super light anyway). The blade is also just a tad bit longer at 3.25inches. He also included a custom Kydex sheath. I then did a simple wrap with para cord. I had the knife for about 3 days before I sent it to Dutch... I had him make me a custom clip to attach to my pack. Through some PM correspondence and a few drawings he came up with EXACTLY what I had in mind. The idea was for the knife to easily and quickly attach to the shoulder strap on my pack, and be able to confidently pull out the knife and put the knife back without worrying about the clip coming off the strap. It also works perfectly on a belt so when I'm at camp the versatility shines. Basically its a standard belt clip with the end curved in. The handle points down when on my pack strap, and up when on my belt. Being Dutch, he even asked if I was right or left handed, so the clip was on the correct side. The total package for the knife, sheath, para cord, and clip is right around 5.25 ounces. I know that seems heavy, but this clip is BEEFY and that's where a lot of the weight comes from.

Steripen Adventurer. Got this sucker off Amazon for under 40 bucks including shipping brand new. It's not the Opti version (no sensors), but I'm happy with it and don't plan to abuse it or use it for a through hike. Weighs 3.5oz WITH the batteries... oh yeah... saucy!

    Stuff still to get!

I need a good UQ, I'm having some email correspondence with HG about a custom Phoenix. I was really happy with my 40* but that won't really cut it up in the NW. So I figured why not just get a custom one made!

Down jacket. I should have bought a nano puff when they had the clearance on their website for 60 bucks... keyword SHOULD have. I'm pretty much holding out until I find a good puffy in that weight and price range. (Lemme know if you got one laying around!)

That's pretty much it, I'm really happy with all my gear right now, and I can't wait to get out and use the new stuff! Once I have the setup really dialed in I will post with all the items, weights, and pics (maybe even my first video?!). I want to say THANKS to everyone here at HF. I have received a lot of valuable feedback, suggestions, gear reviews, and deals here. Oh and I have fun whenever I'm on here, love this place!

If anyone is wondering about the Diaz Tools Frog Leg knife made by Buenos, it weighs in at 3.8oz with the sheath and para cord wrap (no belt clip).

I've been collecting these particular items for a few months now. I just didn't want to flood the forum with 5 posts of new gear so I decided to do one big one. But alas... yes... Chanukah came early this year! New gear and a new career, can't complain... a lot of people have a lot less at this time of year.
