    Stacking TQs?

Has anyone ever stacked top quilts for lower temperatures? I have a 3-S Burrow and a 50 deg Burrow, and it occurred to me that slipping the 50 deg inside of the 3-S would probably make the duo comfy down to well below 20 deg. I am currently mulling over the best way to stabilize the two TQs - possibly with Omni Tape patches, or lace ties or mini toggles and loops. Or maybe I will not need to stabilize them at all - they might just stack well inside the hammock.

Just wondering if anyone had tried this before?

I make my quilts with a neck hole to be wearable and therefore have laces sewn on the sides to tie round me as a belt. I can also use these to stack quilts. I use skinny grossgain for the laces.

I've done it. Just stick one footbox inside the other one. I haven't needed any other connections between them.

I've used a JRB fleece TQ liner and my TQ together and had no problems and did not have to fasten them together. They worked in tandem just fine.

I've done the top combo a few times but with a cold weather hang coming up I got to thinking about the bottom stuff.

My Speers Snugfit is conservatively rated at 30*, if I was to add a 3/4 length other UQ, which way round would be best?

I was thinking the 3/4 closest to the hammock with the Snugfit on the outside, what do you reckon folks? Would it be better the other way round so I don't get any air gaps?

Sorry to hijack your thread Jim but it seemed like a good time to ask

    Sounds encouraging.

I will be visiting friends in Paoli PA for Thanksgiving, and as it appears there will be a full house of visitors (friends and family going back.....40+ years!) I have "volunteered" to hammock in the back yard. I will test my stack for three nights and report back.

As I have given this more thought it seems to be a good idea: My 3-S Burrow is slightly oversized (wide) and my 50 deg Burrow is a standard. Stack these inside the tub-shape of my CJH NX-250 and they ought to nestle together nicely. Forecast is for 35 deg at night, so I ought to be roasty-toasty.

Shewie: Look at the 0 deg Incubator on Hammock Gear's site. Thicker from the shoulders to the hips and then thinning down. Makes me think that the full-length should be against your back with the 3/4 under it (outside of the full length). Seems to me the best way to eliminate drafts and gaps.

    Thanks for the link Hangout.

It suggests that I will extend my 20 deg Burrow to approx 10 deg with the addition of my 50 deg Burrow. That works for me!

I have been really thinking this over myself. I am lucky enought to have a few 40 degree and 20 degree set ups but no winter. Was wondering if stacking was worth it to save money or simply a much bigger hassle carrying more gear and dealing with double efforts (packing two TQ's and UQ's - setting two of each up etc)?.
