Newbie from NC

Welcome from the Winston-Salem area MadWolf.
When you said island in Hot Springs, NC I had to check it out to see if you were talking about the same Hot Springs were there have been quite a few hammock gatherings (Hot Springs Campground).
I see there are several nice sized islands along that stretch of the French Broad.
Very nice! That's a nice little mountain town. Great place to spend time.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes...It is great to see how many people are here from the ole north state. Silvrsurfr is right, there is something about camping on an island that is special. The one we camp on is pretty large, 17 acres in all, but where we camp is probably less than 200' wide. Nothing like having that first cup of coffee by the fire and enjoying the sound of the river.

And yeah Slowhike, there are alot of islands out of hot springs. Many of them are national forest land and posted no trespassing. I just happen to be lucky enough that my dad and a friend of his own one near tennessee. I have seen some of the pictures here on the forum of some hangs around Hot Springs. Hopefully in the future i can attend some. It is a neat area with alot to offer. I grew up about 20 minutes from it.
