i know some of you are familiar w/ backpackinglight.com
some of you may have a membership w/ them ($25.00 per year). i personally think it's well worth it, but the reason for this post is that i wanted to share an article that recently came out titled "hiking in sustained, cold rain", or something like that.
it's got a lot of good info. it requires a membership to view it, but does provide an "email this article to a friend" link. so i emailed it to a few friends & began to think i should also email this to hammock enginer & michele as they get ready for their big hike. then i thought about others on this forum that are getting ready for a thru hike.
but then there's probably a few here that would like to read an article like that, even if they aren't getting ready for a thru hike.
i wasn't sure how BPL.com would view this "member's article" link being posted on another forum, but i figure it's good exposure for them.

it want let you read the paper it just show the index and said you have to regester sorry looks like a good read tho.

Doing that w/o permission is stealing their copyrighted info. BPL is one of the few (or maybe the only) backpacking site where the staff writes technical reviews but doesn't accept advertising that might sway their conclusions. I wouldn't want to hurt the membership there by posting something we haven't paid for.

I know that's only a little bit different from the email link they have, but still...it's their material and they decided on the link.

But seriously, the membership there is worth it. It's like $2 a month, plus you get discounts on their gear that will easily add up to $25 with one good order a year. And how many halfway good magazines can you get for $2? I let my membership expire but I plan on renewing once I get settled in here.

i've only herd from a couple people that i emailed the article directly to.
one said he only got a summery (teaser<G>). but the other said he was able to read the full article (w/ no membership). just wondering if anyone else was able to read it.

I was not able to see the whole article. It asked my to fill out some registration. It was on my list of things to get around to. I have a tendency to procratinate on things.
