Question Need some Mini Line-Lok Help!!

I just bought some of the Mini Line-Loks from the HF Store. I have never used these before, for that matter I have never even seen them. I watched the video on using them and know how to attach them.

My question is, what is the best way to "shorten" your line? Lets say I have 8ft. guy lines, which would work great for use in porch mode, but what if I wanted to put my stake just a few feet away from the tarp? Is it best to just pull the short end of the line, with the knot, through the Line-Loc and tie another knot, thus shortening my guy line?

    Is there another better way?

If you do not understand what I'm talking about, well I may have confused myself too, I can try to explain it better, or try to get some pics to explain it.

    Thanks,

I am not entirely sure if I understand correctly but I use mini line-loks in the styling of HF member Shane (if I remember correctly!). I have the loks attached to the tarp with a loop of stretch cord (for some play) and run 9ft of speer no-tangle through them. Great length long but when I want stakes closer to me I simply shorten the line and lock it down. The excess I simply wrap up quickly. Hope this helps some.

I've tried ^shane^'s method except instead of shock cord I used a small loop. You can get pterry short with this method. I had a problem with no tangle slipping a little in the rain but other cordage would maybe hold better.

You may want to use a prussic from your tarp to your tie out line. You then can use the line loc in order to tighten or adjust the line. If you are able to hold on to the edge of your tarp as you adjust the line, you can really get a tight setup.

Water Monkey just had a video in the last couple that shows how he stores and uses lines on his tarp. Doesn't tie any fancy knots really and I saw it a couple days after my order. Doesn't bother me to have the line locs on it but when I need to be shorter I'll use the Monkey method of tying off. Check out his videos on Youtube and go back a couple before the tail of the blue kilt series. It's in there somewhere.
