ripping strength of hemmed 1.9 ripstop

if i had a piece of ripstop with a rolled hem, and all i had were the hem (so a piece of fabric that is hemmed and about 1/2 wide) what would be the breaking strength? In other words, if i were to treat it like a rope, how much weight would it support?

How it was sewn and with what might be a significant factor in the equation. It if stretches and the stitches pop you would no longer have a tube. I don't know how successful stretch stitching rip stop would be.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

Some Mechanical Engineering student posted somewhere about having access to a strength test machine, might be worth a test.
Is that too much to ask? Girls with frikkin' lasers on their heads?

Ah yes, i had seen that thread a while back and forgotten about it. In my insanity I have been wondering if it would be possible to build a bridge hammock without webbing or chord running along the seams, but instead using some sort of whipping technique on each of the four corners. I wondered if the hems were done just right, if they might be strong enough. But then again, the physics of the bridge might make it so this doesn't really work properly -- just a crazy idea that's popped in and out of my head over the past six months as i've made and slept in bridge hammocks.
