    Double Dutch Hooks

I was wondering if anyone has used two dutch hooks on a tarp line instead of the dutch hook and dutch fly combo...(FATALITY)(...sorry mortal kombat reference)...

I know forum member Rip Waverly does.

Dutch hook on each end, prussics at the rl tieouts. Works well for him evidently.

    that is correct.
    works great for 2-line setups.

i'm running it through in my head, but not sure how it'd work on a single line.

Using two dutch hooks, I am not too sure on how you would be able to pull the tarp line tight. The ability if the flyz is to be able to tighten and lock it down. Maybe a hook on a prussik?

If you are doing it with a single line, put 1 dutch hook on one end. Go around that tree and clip back onto the rl.

Second hook would go on a prussic. The hook and prussic would have to go around the second tree and clip back onto the rl. Tighten the prussic to adjust.

I was thinking that... but some how it wasn't really sticking in my head, just needed to hear from someone else...

I was actually thinking of this as well. I thought of a prusik with hook on each tie-out. That way, you go around the tree, with the prusik on the free end (i.e. between the tree and the loose end of the tie-out). Use the hook to attach to the tarp. If you do that on both sides, it will then be possible to centre the tarp properly by moving the prusiks.

It's really only one long line with the prusik and hook on each end. You could set it up first and then drape the tarp over it (I guess you could add drip lines too in this case). So long as the tarp has something to clip onto, you're all set!

What a strange coincidence. I just sent Dutch a PM asking if he wanted me to post about this very subject.

I have 2 hooks, 2 lines, 2 prussics. Works awesome IMO. Takes longer to take it out of the pack than it does to set it up.

I'm going out this weekend, i'll get pics and post if you wish.

Yes, please do. Pics are far better than explanations. I'm really not sure my description would make sense to anybody but me! I don't have enough line for a CRL, or else I'd string one up and take some pics of my idea myself.
