    DIY Grizzbeak

Made a DIY grizzbeak for the winter camp out with the scouts to the sipesy wilderness in Alabama. I really liked the idea and got some sil seconds from DIY gear supply. Fabric was great quality. Used a mitten hook at the top to attach to the ridge line. cheers

You have done yourself proud that looks to be some mighty fine thread injecting work.

Nice job! Nice to have matching colors.

I've been debating making some. Going with a cuben tarp with doors I would get the same effect with less weight...but I need to save money... and the versatility of taking vs. not taking vs. having doors vs. I don't even know...decisions, decisions.

    Again, well done.

Great job! I've been wanting to do something similar to this. Do you have your steps and directions to share with us?

Thanks Grizz. I feel like I have finally come into my own with your seal of approval. I would be happy to post a tutorial but would want to make sure that Grizz and 2QzQ are ok with it as it was there idea / they market it. If it is ok then I will post a tutorial as I haven't seen one yet. cheers

Hello FireInMyBones. I pontificated on doors verses the beaks but honestly I will just use the beaks in the winter probably. I am somewhat of a fair weather camper but now with the scouts we go no matter the weather. Maybe I will use them more year round. Being fairly low on funds pushed me to use sil seconds but honestly I couldn't tell the difference unless the silicone is a little thicker. Anyway that is why I didn't go doors. cheers

Greetings. I posted instructions originally in this thread. Afterward TQ/ZQ contacted me and got permission to use the design for their commercial offering. I shared the design with them (and all HF) freely, I don't get any $$ from their sales.

All of which is to say that TQ/ZQ won't complain if you put up another tutorial, and I won't complain although if you haven't seen the original posting, you ought to and make sure that yours provides "value added".

    Very nice!

I need to get around to making a set one of these days.

I like the DIY video approach for those hankering to get out the thread injector. We here at 2QZQ are here for those who don't sew but want creative products...whether we created them or whether somebody else thought them up. Grizz....and so the "Grizz beak"... thought and designed the original, we tweaked it a bit and sell our version.
Sure, we have a cottage business that revolves around "hammocking" gear, but the bigger picture is to get folks out enjoying camping. We are glad to have a part in their positive experience.
