    Welcome From 90 miles NE of SF.

    I did almost the same thing in 2003. Went to REI and purchased the heaviest gear, except for my Hennessy Hammock. Got rid of most of the heavy stuff but kept the HH & hiked for the next two year doing the AT in 2004 & 2005.

    While I've been doing the hammock for years, I just got into DIY gear. What I love about this forum is the wealth of info both for hammocks, DIY & just plain nice people.
