    Amsteel Blue?

Does anyone know if adhesives such as superglue or Gorilla Glue degrades the quality or strength of Amsteel Blue? I was thinking that if it doesn't affect the strength or integrity of the cord that it might be good for tacking splices such as continuous loops to keep them in place when they have no tension on them? I have seen some videos that indicate that some folks "stitch" the tage ends in place after pulling them inside the cord, but though a small dab or glue would be easier???

a locked brummel for a fixed loop doesnt need stitching and if you do enough of a bury on a continuous loop it wont back out.

+1 I have not had any problems with a locked brummel or a continious loop coming apart. And I have hung using both. The locked Brummel at the end of my whoopies and I used a continious loop for an extention to my whoopies on my DIY stand.

Yep - think you might not be doing a proper lock? It does not need to rely on the bury.

With a locked brummel, you don't need to do any stitching. Stitching is only needed when dong a simple bury, or you could whip it. There are pros and cons to each way though. A locked brummel will weaken the line more than a simple bury.

With me, I will do a locked brummel if I think the line can easily take it, otherwise I will do a simple bury and do some stitching. But for your question, I have no idea if glue will degrade the rope.

    I actually did...

... a locked brummel and it seems to be holding quiet well. The issue I would address with the glue or a stich was one that occured when my son inlaw was holding the loops and trying to figure out how I made the end slide to adjust. He was messing with the wrong end and when I returned to the room where he was sitting, the brummel was undone. I figure if it happened then it might not hurt to secure it so maintain the integrity of the splice during storage or times when it had no tension. Not a necessity, but kind of an after thought...along with a note to self that I shouldn't let my son inlaw play with my slings alone

Several stitches. They are just keep the parts of the splice in place, not to increase the strength. The needle and thread will come in handy elsewhere.

Use a contrasting color thread, and you can easily find and remove them to re-use all of the cord.
