IX UQers.....I need help

I have a few UQ questions. Im wanting to make a 3/4 length UQ for my HH. How wide are you guys making your UQ and how well does your IX UQ pack down. Pics if you can please.

i don't have a pic of mine packed down but i will say IX does not pack down small.... your better off rolling it i found

I made 2 UQ using Scott's instruction. Used them the first time on the SC Upstate hang down to about 28* and stayed warm. I made them with PE foam that came with fence panels I bought. Two UQs cost me about $40. I tried to upload some pic but it want let me. Good luck

I made the IX UQ at 60" x 42" as mentioned above.

It is my largest backpacking item. I've either stuffed it first in the bottom of my backpack or into a bag attached to the outside.

Rough measurement as shown is 15" x 11" x 2". It's slippery making it hard to handle but it will fold over one more time, especially for putting into a stuff sack.
It works best for me shoved into the bottom of my pack since it will compress further with weight on top.

I made a full sized UQ with 2 layers of IX AND 1 layer of 6.0 Climashield insulation sandwiched
in between the IX layers. Weight is about 2.5 lbs. The trick is to make or purchase a compression
bag and it will squeeze into the bag (with a bit of resistance, but it works well). The Climashield had most of the
mass. and also weight, but it does keep me warm down to 27* so far. IX is somewhat stiff, so it doesn't like to be compressed; the climashield is not the most compression friendly material either, but it will work.




The dimensions for the UQ were 90" in lenght and approximately 45" in width
When forced into the compression sack, the height is 14" with an 8" diameter. It fits in my
Osprey 65 liter backpack with plenty of room to spare.I'm sure if you're only using IX, you can get it to be
much smaller and lighter.
