Down sweater/jacket for sleepwear.

I just found a zip up down sweater jacket by stormtech.ca at Costco that I couldn't pass up. Very similar to these: <http://www.stormtech.ca/dsw-1-men-s-summit-down-jacket.html> but at $79. They had down jackets by 32 Degrees, like what you might put on over this, for $49. With these, I'm thinking I don't need quite so cold of UQ and TQ.

Just wanted to pass along the info, finding affordable down isn't always so simple.

just remember that you will compress the down when your laying on it, so it won't add alot of warmth to the underquilt

I have an old Moonstone down sweater that I'll wear backwards (not zipped up) while reading in the hammock so my arms are warm outside of the quilt. When I turn in or get too hot it's easy to take off without getting out!

I've done it with a similar jacket. Seemed to give some extra warmth but as was said it won't replace an UQ.

Id say since you already have it, go out and give it a try.

I tried sleeping with my down jacket on. In the morning I found the back was damp and cold walking around. You may find wearing it backwards or draping it over you will probably work better. Let the quilts do the rest.

Seems to be the going rate for down sweaters, even on ebay. Do you know a better deal or sale, and willing to share with us? I'd love one and have been looking for a while, but they are just too pricey.

I have a Montbell down sweater, had it over a couple of years now,,,and I wear it more than anyother piece of gear I have especially in the late fall, winter, early spring,,its super durable, no signs of wear on it. I even hunt in it as it allows me to dress lighter and at 6 or so ozs so light you don't know you have it on except for the heat it puts out. you can wear it just under a wind breaker type jacket at 30 degrees and your pretty toasty if moving around any. I will not hesitate to get another one no matter what the cost is, however,,with all the sales lately, you can pick them up right now at 40 or so percent off. Just have to search the net for them. I wouldn't want sleep in it.
