Hello all -

Just found out about this forum this weekend and am soaking up as much as I can. I've had my ENO Doublenest for years, but mostly used it as a place to relax during the day at home and/or while camping.

I enjoy responsible off-road trail riding and camping with my 4wd club. I started contemplating actually sleeping in my hammock (gasp!) as a way to cut back on weight and bulk in my Jeep. I've actually set my hammock up inside my Jeep and slept comfortably. Now I'm interested in moving my sleeping system outside, but have a lot to learn about doing so comfortably as I sleep COLD.

Here's a picture of my current setup from my last event in the Sierras above Bass Lake & Mammoth Pool Reservoir.

Beats the tar out of carrying a tent and sleeping on the ground.

Welcome from the Heart of Dixie. Wish I had an LJ that I could hang in! The TJ along with the fact that I'm 6'5" just won't cut it. I have tied to a single tree and the roll cage though.

Welcome! Sleeping warm in a hammock is realtively easy to do. Spend some time poking around here on the forums and you will find all kinds of informataion.

I did have the opportunity to watch all 10 parts of that series yesterday. Shug did an awesome job putting that together. He had me laughing while I was learning.

I've backpacked for years throughout the central and northern Sierra's, but have thus far packed a 2p tent and slept on the ground. I'm a former Boy Scout who learned to appreciate a lite pack (well, relative to the '80s), and am in my third year as Cub Master for our local Cub Scout pack. I am also a Webelos den leader, and enjoy getting my boys out and teaching them useful knowledge about the outdoors beyond what is covered in their handbook through actual experience.

I'm in the process of working with our local Boy Scout Troop to get them to consider other options besides the 10-person patrol tents they currently use. The boys seemed very interested in my hammock set up at our last service project at Eastman Lake. We'll see. My son is a year and a half away from bridging into a Troop...and I've still got plenty to learn.

We met a virgin Assistant Scoutmaster at Batona Camp this weekend. Syb, Kayak Karl and I showed the man and his sons a thing or two about hammocks, Amsteel Blue, lightweight stoves and other stuff.

I laughed my butt off when I heard the kid tell his father, "Dad, next time we go camping I want to sleep in a hammock with an underquilt, and I want Orikaso dinnerware."

That guy probably hates us about now. He had just spent a pretty penny on his ground-dwelling unit.
