Welcome from the Jersey Shore! You can't learn it all in a day, I started with a Hennessy Expedition Asym Zip (a great all-in-one starter set for $149.95), then purchased a couple of el cheapo Byer Moskito Hammocks for $29.95 and Grand Trunk Funky Forest Tarps for $35 each.

After a couple of years of using a 0* sleeping bag, space blanket and ccf blue foam pad in my hammock, I finally purchased some big boy insulation. The Hammock Gear 20* Incubator and Burrow is on order!

I took it slow till I found my way. I didn't want to pour a lot of money into a hobby that might be a passing fancy.

Above all, enjoy the ride. The learning curve is fun.

    Welcome to HF...
I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.

Welcome to HF! Learning to camp in a hammock is not difficult. Watch Shug's video as already suggested and poke around here some and in no time you will be swinging in the trees.
