    Given the prevalence of lice and bed bugs these days, I might recommend putting your down in a trash bag and hitting it with a headlice spray, which should also kill bed bugs, then taping it up and letting it sit over night.

    That would be an unpleasant surprise. I'm a little surprised they even sell bedding used at those stores. Many states have laws against selling certain bedding material, and all the thrift shops around here refuse to accept filled comforters, pillows, or mattress toppers. :/

    I don't know about lice, but bedbugs in all stages can be killed easily by heating the item to 120 degrees F for 30 minutes or so. You can almost achieve this by putting an item in a black plastic bag in the sunshine.

    I love thrift stores! You never know what kind of goodies you can find on the cheap. Add one more thing to my list of things to look for when I hit the thrift stores....
