I use lawson equipment's reflective cord. I have 10' with a mini figure 9 on all my tarp tie outs. The reflective stripes really stand out at night and its bright orange in the day, which keeps me from triping over it. His price is more than fair and when you buy 50' shipping was free. And best of all he is a member here.

It has a core and is not readily spliced.

I use a set of DIY these on my Mamajamba. Love em! The line loc will fail or slip before my tarp is torn in high winds, and if the elastic fails, my stake won't become a projectile to shoot through me or my tarp. Takes almost 2 seconds per stake to to get the perfect pitch.

"The Road goes ever on and on,
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can.
    Pursuing it with eager feet
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say."

I use 8ft-10ft guylines from whoopieslings + you have the option for tarp tensioners if need be.

And for the ridgeline i use the 2 Line setup along with Dutch flyz.

+ 1 on Shane's idea, as used by Str1der. Really work well. Love em. I use the Warbonnet guyline grey 1.75 mm Dyneema.

I use the Edge tarp. 10 feet on each pullout. 15 on each ridgeline end. (2x15' carried for emergencies and distant trees) total=100'

Any form of cord will do ya. I use zing-it now but had a lot of success with mason line. Mason line is splice-able (only if you buy braided) but it tends to stick to velcro.
