I use lawson equipment's reflective cord. I have 10' with a mini figure 9 on all my tarp tie outs. The reflective stripes really stand out at night and its bright orange in the day, which keeps me from triping over it. His price is more than fair and when you buy 50' shipping was free. And best of all he is a member here.

I use 8ft-10ft guylines from whoopieslings + you have the option for tarp tensioners if need be.

And for the ridgeline i use the 2 Line setup along with Dutch flyz.
+ 1 on Shane's idea, as used by Str1der. Really work well. Love em. I use the Warbonnet guyline grey 1.75 mm Dyneema.
I use the Edge tarp. 10 feet on each pullout. 15 on each ridgeline end. (2x15' carried for emergencies and distant trees) total=100'
I use 150lbs test tared bank-line and run it through surgical tubing.
Any form of cord will do ya. I use zing-it now but had a lot of success with mason line. Mason line is splice-able (only if you buy braided) but it tends to stick to velcro.
