    I know this is an old thread but seems the best place for this question. It seems for both the JRB and SWT neither of them can get their "doors" shut very tight. Seems like a weird thing for a winter tarp. I would expect you could seal off a winter tarp so just the webbing from the hammock to the tree is the only hole. Can someone enlighten me on this.

    Well, I know part of it is for condensation.
    Other more knowledgeable folks will need to chime in here.

    the warbonnet superfly and the jrb hammock hut are your only 2 options for fully closed ends while maintaining a reasonable interior width. (i think they're the only ones that can even get real full end closure)

    full end closure is for fairly windy weather, in those conditions, there should be enough air movement to avoid condensation. if it's not that windy you don't need full end closure anyway, and doing so will cause condensation so you'd want to leave then ends more open in calmer conditions for venting purposes
