    Winter Hang Advance Party

For those of y'all who are attending the 6th Annual Mt. Rogers Winter Hang, who all is planning on arriving a day or more early? I'm planning on getting there on Thursday, 19 January, probably by mid-afternoon or so. Anyone else planning on coming early?

It would be a small miracle to be off work for Friday. I'll be there Saturday morning.

Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

I am PLANNING on arriving around 1300 on Wednesday. Depends on the Job situation, IF I (get to) go to new place, arrival will be same time on Thursday.
Going Hiking whenever I get there. Thurs arrival, prolly to the Wise. Wed arrival, maybe further, MAY even try for the Summit of Mt Rogers again.

Honestly, if I could, I'd leave NOW, park in Damascus (or at Kincora? The Smokies? Somewhere.) & do a VERY leisurely hike to the hangout . Sigh!

I'm planning on taking 2-3 weeks off in the spring and doing some very leisurely hiking in GA and VA on the AT to close section gaps if anyone is interested in joining me. Just sayin'.

I hope to get there Thursday in time to collect some firewood. Doctari, what's our status with the campsite use Thursday night? Is that covered in our agreement with GHSP?

We definitely need a good fire for Thursday night. I may even bring the old Coleman stove and cook up a pot of stew or soup to share for dinner. I'll try to bring some extra firewood with me as well.

We'll find out about the campsite for early arrivals, but I don't think it would be a problem.
I may be able to get there a day or so early, but it's to soon to sat for sure.
I too will something make and joy in it's making

Just got word from Marcella, Yea, we are good. She says: "if people want to come early/stay late in the campground, we will accommodate them at the primitive camp rate, if they want to do some overnight backpacking pre/post hang, they just need to pay the parking fees for the extra day(s)."

So if you want to get there early & find the prime site*, I THINK it's about $5.00 a day (Night?), or something close to that. As Marci says: "its not like
you have to worry about somebody else reserving the site."

*Camp in "MY" site, & I'll hang right next to you. I've been told I snore loud enough to make the dead get up & move further away. No, earplugs don't help.
