I have 3 down TQ's, 2 down UQs laying over a cheap clothes rack. I like the down to be able to breathe and stay fluffy when stored. Before the clothes rack I had large cloth, breathable "dust" bags to store them in.

I wouldn't recommend storing down inside a sealed plastic container unless you had a dessicant, or something to prevent moisture/mildew.

I don't with my down bags. Just make sure they keep their loft. That's why its best to hang them .... But I don't have room for that.

I store mine open flat underneath my bed. That way they can stay fully lofted with no folds or creases.

I've stored all my down items in bins in a closet for going on 3 years now. I don't have the room to hang them and I haven't noticed any issues with loft, mildew, smell, etc.

I have a bin for each item.

I would be hesitant about storing them in bins in an attic or basement, but in a climate controlled room; I've been doing it for years with no issues.

I'm with tendertoe. A plastic bin for each item, in the closet. Now ... when I finish my "man" cottage in the backyard, I'll have the down out and hanging, but that's more of a pride thing than a practical objection to the plastic tubs.

put them in large mesh laundry bags. two in each to match up their temps. then i put the 4 bags in a closet on top of each other. they never stay long. the hammocks go on a shelf. small gear is in Tupperware shoe boxes. backpacks hang on the wall.

will post about bikes and kayaks later.

I keep each of mine in the cheap canvas laundry sacks you get at department stores. Keeps them clean and dust free but they can still breath.
I just hang thoughs or store them in my closet

I just recently changed how I store my bags. At Fred Meyer I found these open ended hangers... pretty much take one (of the 3) sides out of the hanger. They also have a nice black grippy coating so they don't slide off easily. 3.99 for a 3 pack I considered a decent deal. I have my black bird neatly (and lightly to avoid creases) folded on one, another for my tarp, and more for my quilts. Everything is up hanging and aired out nicely.

To avoid moisture and all that stuff I have some cedar blocks in various places of my closet. They debunk the camp smell with a lovely cedar scent. They also absorb moisture and keep moths away. All the benefits of moth balls but even better! I also have most of my other gear in a big rubbermaid tub, you bet your butt I put a nice big ole cedar chunk in that sucker, too.

I found a cheaper version at Fred Meyer, but can't find them online. Not this exact brand, but pretty much the same thing. They work really well for me.
