I won't go into the quantity of the hammocks in my house. Suffice to say, I have enough hammocks (nylon/polyester) that I could spend a month in a different one every night and still not sleep in the same one twice. Then there are the big cotton hammocks, probably half a month there. Tarps, quilts, stakes, stoves, pots, lights, knives, packs, blah, blah, blah. Of course, there's also the insidious Dutch with all his shiny stuff.

The good news is, it really is just a matter of waiting it out. I figure I started spending at a more reasonable pace after about the 3 year mark. So, you got that going for you.

Actually, I've spent LESS money because of this forum! ;P

Yep...opted to get an expensive hammock (HHED) instead of an el-cheapo...but had kinda planned on that anyway. But someone here mentioned that HH would substitute the hex fly for the stock asym tarp for the HHED...so got a "free" upgrade to a tarp I knew I'd like better.

Sure enough...couldn't live with the stock suspension. Just HAD to try this "whoopie things" everyone raves about. So I start trolling the PIF thread, keeping an eye out for a set or two. Got them and managed to hook a few people up with some items that they wanted to try as well.

I'm usually a pretty hard sell, and I've been really comfortable with my sleeping bag and the HHSS (that I picked up on sale, thanks again guys!), so haven't truly felt much of a need to go to UQ/TQ.

I've learned more "tricks and tips" from folks here on HF that have helped me improve my camping over the last year for free...it's amazing.

Can't wait to get out to a group hang again. The last one was only 5-6 folks...but was a blast, and it was really cool how even with those few folks who mostly knew each other, we still managed to exchange some really useful ideas.

    Y'all rock! Happy Holidays!

I know I am a helpless case. Several years ago, I aquired a sailboat for free (the next time I see the joker that gave it to me, I'm gonna slug 'em!). I spent years refurbishing the boat. Stripped the interior, repaired all the gel coat, rebuilt the interior, replaced all the standing and running rigging and even sprung for new sails. Spent thousands!

I finally got rid of the boat, sad at first, but I came to live with it after a short time. Now all I want is to get another boat so I can figure out how to hang hammocks in the cabin!

If it is shinny and Dutch made it, I bought it.

    Oh LOOK! Something shinny!

I've been hanging in my WBBB every night for the past week. Not sleeping. Testing, adjusting, looking for leaks in the rain, trying the TQ, the UQ, with and without the blue pad, with and without the pillow, with and without my gloves and
