    Swamp Fox Passage Palmetto Trail

Has anyone did this section of the Palmetto Trail? I am looking to do a 4 day hang in SC/NC during my Christmas break and am thinking this may be a nice place. Not really wanting to head up the mountains this trip.

I have been hiking the Palmetto Trail since Jan. 2011. I am over 50% complete with it. I did have plans to do a 4 day Swamp Fox Passage hike between Dec. 23, 2011 - Jan. 1, 2012. When are you planning to do it and what is the section of trail that will be your start and finish?
If you see me on the trail...DON'T YELL!...DON'T BAIL!... Its just your BOY, Camomeleon!!!

We are looking at the 26th thru the 29th. Still not sure we are coming down that way. We are still looking at our options. I wish there were more places in SC to do backcountry camping.

    Preach on.

Sumter NF has some good spots, but you have to dig for them.

How about Congaree Swamp National Park? It is free to camp (get a FREE permit at the office) and you can camp ANYWHERE in the swamp.

I'd love to do the Palmetto Trail one day, but the Foothills Trail is next on my list. Let me know how it is if you do it, I'm looking for tidbits of hanging tips along the passage for my yet-to-be-announced trip. Safe hanging.

Yes, Congaree is a nice place to go but it is the wet season in there. Never tried it this time of year.

We are looking at maybe doing the Enoree Passage instead. Palmetto trail is new to us so we are having a hard time figuring out what would be our best options.

I have done over 50% of the Palmetto Trail (PT). There are some great spots for camping on some of the trails. Check out my YouTube page. I do a video documentary of every passage I have hiked on the PT. Its chalked with the sights and the sounds of the trail and what to expect. Let me know how this helps!!!
