Catfish twine

I picked up this catfish line at wally today to use on my tarp. ~$2 for 260 ft. I didn't notice until I was all the way home that right on front (The part starting with "WARNING..." Lol! ) it says this:

Tensile strength is approximate to (-10%). Do not use in situations where personal safety could be endangered. Never use this product to secure large flat surfaces or objects that could "airplane." Misuse could result in serious injury or death.

Wow. Didn't catch that one! I think "large flat surfaces" pretty much describes a tarp, but I don't understand the verbal use of the word "airplane."

What do you all think before I open this package up? I feel this is just lawyer talk, but I am asking to be sure. This line has a tensile strength of 113 lbs., and is made of "one or more of nylon, polypro, or polyester."

Another bit of info I should include is that there is some there that is similar in that it is called twine, but has a higher breaking strength. (Around 300 if I remember right.) So, if this isn't horrible to use, I may get some of that anyway...

Get some of the other. Believe it or not I used the hight strength (I think it was about 235lb strength) to hold my 190lb butt up when I first started hammocking. I by no means advise this, but it has been done. I wouldn't trust the stuff you have right now, but the stronger stuff will work just fine.

My wal-mart has the same stuff, but I couldn't find any that was braided other than black. I just use braided mason line from the Home Depot (I use the Yellow, Amanda uses the Pink ).

Headchange, the line looks to be twisted to me. I may just go with the mason line...

Just spend around $15 and get some of the night-ize figure 9
s with attached line. Then you don't have to tie knots anymore

I have 12 tieouts and plan on adding 4 more to the top, so I don't want to spend that much.

This is what I am thinking.

I am just concerned about the tensile strength. Does anyone know off-hand if 113 lbs. is going to be enough?

It depends on how much wind you get. And remember, in the event you do get really big wind, you want the line to break before the tarp rips.

Well, I tried the line, and I am not happy with it for two reasons. It doesn't seem to hold the knots I am tying very well. Also, it is twisted, not braided, so it untwists as I work with it sometimes. (Even though I melted the ends.) Oh well, down $2.

I will try some of the mason line from Home Depot.
