    UCR for tie outs?

My first thread here on HF, so please forgive me if it is in the wrong forum.

I have been reading a lot on different suspensions, tarps, UQ, TQ, pads, dodads, and farkles.

I see tie outs discussed with knots, mini biners, line locks, etc, is anyone using UCRs on their tie outs? Sees like it would be a lot simpler/lighter than some of the, um . . . accesories

I've been thinking on this too.

Haven't tried it yet, but surely someone has.

I haven't used a UCR, but, yes they are used. If you do a search you will find there has been a lot of discussion on the topic. Many of use related whoopie slings for suspension.

As for tarp tieouts, I think the best solution is the one offered by whoopieslings.com the basic mechanism is a prussic loop attached to the line (self tensioned or not) and this prussic is then attached to the corner tarp tie out. This give easy knot free adjustment and the benefit of making adjustments from under the tarp if it is raining out. The prussic will aslo slip beyond a certain amount of force and offer a point of failure, hoepfully before your tarp fabric rips.

Check out the video on the page on how the tarp line works.

    Cheers

I tried UCRs as tarp tie outs before I went to my Line-Loc method. I could not get the UCRs to stay tight in big wind.

Seems like the load would change too much for them to stay locked properly. I think the prussic on the main line would probably be an elegant solution to this though.
