    footbox question

I'm on the verge of adding a footbox to my hammock.

    My question is:
When I sew in the footbox, it appears I can no longer comfortably get in the hammock from the foot side. Is this true?

IT can also create a place of much stress if you do sit sideways - which can lead to a failure of the hammock body. Trust me, I know.

Why a footbox. You could always try putting a length of shock cord like Knotty shows in one of his threads to make a faux footbox. If you don't like it you could always remove shock cord and add footbox material like you originally planned.

    I like my footbox.

You can always flip the hammock to sit the other direction. That is what I do.

I vaguely remembered the faux footbox idea but couldn't find it.

My problem is that it often seems like the site only has one side for easy access. The other is full of brush or palmettos here in Florida.

I'd try the faux approach,, but I've already sewed my tieouts over the edge seam. There is no room to feed the shock cord through.

Rock, I never thought about turning the hammock over to reverse the lay. DOH!!

I think I'll just sew on the footbox and see what it feels like.

My Walmart has a fabric department again. It's only a matter of time til the $ bin get some ripstop again and cheap hammocks will be back in fashion. <G>
