Well, the good news is that we'll be near the cars the first night at least if the temperature drops...the bad news is that I've got no idea how we'll get outta there if there's a snowstorm! LOL!
We will see how the weather goes, and who call can make it if the weather starts to go bad.
Yeah that will be good to be close to the cars, I'm probably going to pack lots of stuff since I do not know what I'm doing and I like being warm.
Join the club. My wife calls me "Indiana Sherpa" when I pack out for a trip...I carry enough gear for 3 people.
I would rather err on the side of too much rather than find myself aborting the run because I forgot something critical.
Even at the furthest point from the trailhead, you'll be at most 2.5-3.0 miles from the car, and the trail is just one big loop. Not easy to get lost out there. Bring the extra stuff, figure out what you want/need the first night, and pack what you think you'll need for the second.
This place is where my sons and I go to field test our gear after it's passed the backyard testing phase, for that reason.
3rd night test. Will be low of 26 tonight. Going to use the thermarest the thin layer of the military sleep system on top of the thermarest and the thicker bag of the military sleep system as a top quilt. Think I will wear some polypro and a cap. Report in the am.
Can't wait to hear your report. Thanks for documenting for us what you are doing at what temps. That is always good info even though what you do may not transfer to me as I am a warm to hot sleeper.
I slept good again. I was not cold and I think I could go colder with the same set up but not a lot colder. Low 20's I think I would want a bit more insulation.
