Kelty Noah 12 Storage

I just got a kelty noah's tarp 12 and I immediately took it out of the bag it came in a put it into a smaller stuff sack. With this kind of tarp is it ok to store it like that? Or should I fold it like it came from kelty and keep it in the larger bag until I'm ready to go out and use it?

It's no problem. Most of us seem to do that. It's the insulated gear where storing it stuffed for a longer period of time could be an issue.

I keep mine in a smaller stuff sack I made myself, just happened to fit so I used it.

Yea like they said, tarps are normally one of the things you can keep stuffed

I have always stuffed and not folded tarps and rainflys, thinking that by stuffing the fold and creases in the tarp were random. When the tarp is folded the creases are always in the same place. I have a rainfly for my Black Diamond tent that has been stuffed for over 30 years and is in excellent shape.

In fact, 30 years ago, it was a Black Coal tent and fly. But you keep it stuffed in a small enough sack for 30 years, and coal becomes...
