NX 250 underquilt? sub 0 deg.

There is an apparent abundance of under quilts for all other types of hammocks out there but I am not finding many I could use with my NX 250. I am ready to do some winter camping but want to make sure I can manage the sub zero temps I will be hitting at night. I have a 20 bag that I have used down to 30 deg and aside from a little cold on my feet been just comfortable in reasonable sleep wear. What are you guys doing with your NX's in the cold?

I am interested in this as well I have 2 camping trips planned for Jan and no underquilt yet. Im doing some practice runs to see what works.

I am able to use a 3/4 UQ on mine. I also have z-liners and with the two combined I have been comfortable at around 15F.

Last weekend I tried out a NX-250 with the z-liners and a HammockGear 3/4 UQ on bottom and a JRB TQ. It got down to about 15-16 degrees and I was almost too warm. The z-liners alone wouldn't have been enough though. Next time I'll try the z-liner bottom piece only with the HG UQ. That should be about right. If only someone made some down "pillows" to go in the pockets underneath. I think that would be the way to go.

I have a full length Hammock Gear Incubator and have used it with my NX 250. No problem. I also have an IX which works great. I thread the IX over the tabs that hold the rods....makes for a VERY tight end seal.

Setting up fresh and re-hanging every night with temps down to 12-15F (-10C), the tight end seal for the UQ is what matters most. I'm letting the weather shield drape over the TQ and am warm with a down-filled cover not rated below 32F / freezing. (Fleece pants and hood; and wool sweater.)

The pockets sewn to the Clark NX meet the problem of the seal as no other gathered endhammocks on the market do. The longitudinal ridges are SEALED (well, almost) by the (breathable) fabric of the pockets . Even if you are using an UQ, find thin pads for the pockets to act as gaskets.

Mt Washinton 4 is a zero degree quilt that fits very well.

I slept in the low 40's with a Z-Liner and a 0 degree sleeping bag and I was warm. I now hve a HG 15 degree UQ & TQ and can't wait to try it out on the NX-250. Maybe this weekend. I will let you know how it turns out. I just hate to lose the use of the pockets.
I now have a sewing machine, so maybe I will get around to adding insulation in the pockets with my Z-Liner. I still want to experiment with cutting up a poncho liner and sew peices to match the Z-Liner, and just add them with velcro.

So a 3/4 underquilt will work with the Z liner? Thant may be the way I go if that is the case. I was most concerned with how many of the underquilts would attach and seal as the shape of the NX is quite a bit different than a gathered end or a bridge. I could be wrong though as this is my only hammock so far and I haven't been able to try out anything with it yet.

I use an Arrowhead New River on my NX-250 and it works/fits fine!

When I think it is going to turn chilly or when the thermometer says there is no temperature (0 degrees Far.) or gets downright negative about temps

I use the Z-Liner as well. That takes care of any temps I am likely to want to hang in.

One of these days I may spring for a down UQ, but haven't yet. I don't hike long distances in the winter, so don't worry too much about the weight or extra bulk. Pulk is your friend!
