Only time will tell if we have enough snow to even consider a pulk but after last years AT experience if I'm pulking it will be with a modified Dead Sled cut to fit my pack...the external frame providing attachment points for the poles....not needed the Dead Sled rolls up/strapped to the pack.

Sorry guys, but I won't be able to make it. work/family are kinda getting in the way of a longer hangout, so I am just doing a quick hike closer to home.
It could be that the purpose of my life is merely to serve as a warning to others.

The extended forecast is showing a few days of snow the week prior. It also looks to have lows approaching 0 F up top.
The MN Frozen Butt at -19 F is pretty chilly, but we won't have a warm cabin or a giant tarp to step under. The winds up there tend to stay around 30 mph, so that'll make for a windchill around -26 F.
This is starting to look promising.

If the snow isn't deep and the winds are biting like that, some may be tempted to run the 7.5 miles of exposed mountain top to the next shelter.

Plus or minus 25 degrees (more likely minus) and 30-40 mph winds. I probably wouldn't plan on it getting into the 50's during the day though.

Those winds were real tarp pounders last year.

It was 53*F when we got to the top of the road last year. Then we then turned back into the woods, the cloud cover came in, and it suddenly went to 35*F.

The darned forecast is all over the place for this one. Now it's looking like lows in the mid teens for 6k and high 20's in town that weekend.
If the pattern holds, there may not be much snow but that won't rule out ice.
