    Soft on Soft?

Howdy. I'm in the process of sorting out suspension. Now I'm going around in circles a bit but I'm beginning to lean towards the Amsteel options.

I see there are soft shackle biners which look great but I always thought soft on soft was a no no when it's supporting your weight. Has or does anyone have an issue with it or is it all good?

Obviously regularly checking over your gear would reduce risk of loading worn elements in the system but is that sufficient?

How well does Amsteel stand up to abrasion?

    Thats all I use...

Softshackle through the channel on the hammock, whoopie sling connected to that. My ridgeline is also connected to the end loop of the whoopie via a soft shackle. I'm a big guy and have hung quite a bit on mine, no issues at all.

I haven't had any issues so far. I just check on them regularly for wear. I think one of the issues with soft on soft is amsteel has a recommended amount of bend for use (can't remember off hand how many fids). Two loops of amsteel on each other is probably smaller than the manufacturers recommendations but people seem to have success regardless.

Sweet. It would certainly cut down on bulk. Time to order the Amsteel.

    Cheers
