    Question Hammock suggestions

    Help.....

I'm very interested in making a DIY hammock, but I'm new to hanging. I think that I should purchase an inexpensive off the shelf model first until I get a better understanding of what I like and what I don't. I would like to keep the cost down since I do plan to make my own hammock in the future. Could I get some low cost hammock suggestions that would help me feel more confident in my selection.

ENO makes the doublenest and I have seen that referenced on hammock forums quite a few times and it is in the price range I was thinking. Tell me what you all think.

My height is 6'0" and weight is 210 lb.

    Thank you for your help!

These two bad boys just came up for sale - including dynaglide whoopies and ridgeline. Great to start out and get an idea in my opinion. Here

ENO double nest was my first hammock and still get used a lot. Its a good hammock and has a high weight rating. The Grand Trunk Ultralite is a good starter and is also less expensive but I like the parachute nylon style like the ENO's.

ENO makes a good basic GE hammock. It was my gateway hammock and led to this addiction...

You might consider Grand Trunks which often has hammocks listed as low as $14-16 on Amazon.

There are multiple other similar netless gathered end hammocks available and names can be found under the forums "Hammock Gear--Manufacturers and Services" section.

On the DIY front, you could make a simple netless GE hammock for <$30 and a netless bridge for <$60 (<$40 if you already have poles to use for spreaders)

    Here's a couple more for sale: http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=43782
IIRC, the GT Single is the same material as the ENO.
