    New Stand, 2nd try

Ok, I posted an earlier version of this stand with just two posts tied back with straps to keep them from collapsing in. With all the input from here, I made some changes. I swapped from pine to treated Douglas Fir that I got from a construction project I have going on at work. I quickcreted the 4x4 posts in 2' deep. Then I added a bolted on 2x4 center beam. This thing is now rock solid and I'm much more pleased. Thanks for all the input earlier.

    That's nice.

I don't think you are quite done, though. I can imagine an awning over that after the weather warms up a bit.

I think I'm going to plant some muscadines or some sort of vine on it......
to disguise its true purpose. My girlferiend is already pissed that it does not accomodate two hammocks.

From the pictures it looks like you have enough room to put another stand up for the gf. All you need is another post and top rail. Put the post and toprail at a 90 degree angle and you can both hang together. You could actually make a stand for three hangers if you place the poles in a triangle layout.

The weird looks will get greater and the hushed goosip will go up as well when you and the GF spend more nights in your hammocks than you do in the house!!!!!!! Just remember its jealousy pure and simple..........
