    Single line hammock ridge line

Ok....so I've been gone from the forums for awhile....
Actually I do pop in but the shear volume of posts these days is amazing.
    I knew about whoopies
But the single line tarp ridge line is something I didn't know y'all were doing.
    I like it!
At any rate, has anyone done the same with the hammock? I see Jeff has something like it above in a sticky.
How about one end clipped on the tree (no whoopie or cinch), then the line runs through the ends of the hammock to the other end where it is attached to the other tree with a cinch or a whoopie.
To 'fix' the ridgeline, there would be 'stops' on the inside where the line hits the ends.
However, I think it would take some practice to get the correct ballpark tautness (angles) of the ridge line before setting the stops. Then the whoopie/cinch could be used for minor adjustments.
    Clear as mud?
    Dumb as a stump?

You HAVE been gone a while haven't you. A fixed length ridgeline on a hammock for being able to set it's hang the same every time is quite common these days. The Warbonnet Blackbird is fine example.

    Unfortunately, I wasn't clear.....pretty muddy I guess
I was talking about the entire suspension from tree to tree.

What Schrochem is referring to is a CONTINOUS hammock suspension with an all inclusive ridgeline that is made from rope (probably Amsteel).
Using the Utility Constrictor (or UCR) splice this can be done. But its not really a one piece system, since the UCR's need to spliced on, which make it a three piece suspension (but of course we use webbing to save and protect our precious trees.)

UCR is too short a term to search for, so it'll be a bit till I can track down the posts I'm thinking of...

    And here
    With pics
This post shows a wrapped attachment/knot at the ends near the webbing. But I think a loop at the end would work for attaching here.
Then have the length of rope pass thru the ucr/ridgeline for adjustment. The extra would just hang there. Then the same thing would happen on the other end.

Set the ucr/ridgeline to the length you need (this would be predetermined constant), leave some extra at the hammock ends for adequate buries, then the actual suspension lines slide thru the ucr up to the webbing

Not sure if this is what you are talking about but it's what I'm using at this time. http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=32421 Made some minor mods but don't we all?
