    I have a DIY hammock that I attached a bag to. I find it very useful. I'm not sure why one would want to remove a handy feature like that.

    Kept the bag and cut off the strap as I found it only compressed the bag a negligible amount when compared to the weight it added. The strap I now use to hang things up the the gear closet.

    i still have mine, i plan on keeping it for as long as it will stay on...why cut it off?
