    WBBB and WB Superfly

So, today I was testing out my new WB gear in anticipation of a winter trip. Was testing my SMC Sno-Stakes (work great on the beach!) and messing around withe the pitch of my Superfly. Have crafted all my lines combining all the great techniques learned on the forum THANK YOU ALL! Maybe you can see in these pics - all my guy lines are prussic'd with small continuous loops, both ends of each of the lines have locked and buried eye loops, I have added tensioners, etc. All works great.

Question - when I hang my WBBB between the 15' poles - even though there seems to be plenty of sag in my ridgeline, it gets quite tight when I get in the hammock. I try that tension test whereby I "bend" the line a bit, but it very tight. Seems like the hammock has a lot of sag - almost too much - but the ridgeline goes taut when I get in. What am I missing?

Doesn't sound like you are missing anything. This is what happens with RL's. They get more taut when the hammock is weighted. Are you comfortable? If the RL seems too tight, just lengthen the suspension a bit. If the sag is too much and you are not comfortable, you mat have to install an adjustable RL to find how much sag you like.

Depending on where I hang my BB, sometimes the ridgeline is loose sometimes tight. I have not noticed a big difference in the comfort of the hang but then thats me.

If you have a good lay going I would not worry about it. Try hanging somewhere else sometime....things will change.

So, are you guys saying that ridge line being very tight is not a problem?

I also had the same issue as Ewhammock with my BB.
I can achieve recommended sag in the ridge line, but then I'm very close to the ground; 10-20cm.
If I set the hammock to about chair hight, ridge line gets very taut when I lay.
I tried many variations for the tree huggers height but always with similar results.

Here is, more or less, how I set it in my yard:

Sorry to highjack your thread EWhammock, but I feel like we're in the same both.

    Cheers.

I have found only a little difference in the comfort level between tight and the recommended “twistable”. It seems to me that the steeper the suspension is the loser the RL.

When the RL is really tight, I get a little more pressure under the calf, too lose and I don’t get as flat.

Last hang, I was running a pad under my legs and had the RL very tight due to the trees being used and the pad was more than enough to overcome the calf pressure.

I look to set my bird with the ridge line having just a small bow in it, I find this equate to my desired tension once in.

If you’re comfortable then you’re doing it right. At 9:37 in the following clip you’ll see a compromised hang, where the RL is just a little too tight for my liking…. But then again, I’d run it as is for the night.

9:29 on this one shows the initial bow.

Being 1.0 and I being in the high weight range of this model I see a bit more stretch and this is why the UQ is hanging lower than one would expect, that along with the UQ being a summer weight one and I get more warmth from it when it sit around the hammock rather than too snug.

    .
So in the first part where you end up too close to the ground but you have the recommended sag.... You have it all perfect!!!!

and just need to move the straps up the tress 20cm or however higher you want to be.
