I have plans during the morning of Saturday the 22, but Smarticle and I may be able to make it out Saturday afternoon/evening. We are talking about Conecuh/Open Pond, right? That is only an hour and a half drive for us. Are we looking at securing the scout/group area on B-loop? There is a great place at the bottom of the loop with plenty of hanging sites, if it is not reserved by another group. I will bring a Dutch oven and cook, well, something.

I will have to clear it with SWMBO first. Will let you know.

If we are looking for a particular site we need to look. Taylo, if you will check on that place and see. I would but I don't know the area or that park at all. Would hate to go up there and it already be taken

I've never hung there, but Taylo told me he did last Friday night, so I'm assuming hanging is allowed. I'm sure he'll chime in.

That's a bit further than I want to treck, but you guys have fun.

At Conecuh, there's a ton of RV and primitive sites. More pines than you could shake a stick at. I have never encountered a Ranger while camping there. There were other hangers there last week so. Most of the sites are along the bank of the lake. There's a distance of about 40 yards between the lake sites and the bank of the lake, with enough pines to hang serveral hammocks per site. I'm not sure how many people can be on one site, but there's enough trees on one site to hang at least 6 hammocks.

It really looks like a hammock hangers heaven there. Endless options. As long as the RV's don't take over. But there were many many empty sites there last weekend. Beautiful place.

I'm going to call the Ranger's office today to make sure, since it's a group we're planning on having.

Sounds like things are coming together. Long term forecast is calling for rain, but that's a ways off and could still change. The pavilion area in the pics I saw looked nice, we could always build a nice fire and hang out in the pavilion.

Yep me and the lady friend were there this past Friday night. I was hoping to rain test our tarps, but no rain. She kept commenting on how pretty is was there. The shower facilities are a plus as well. They had just done a large controlled burn there as well. It looked like our trip was ruined, but they managed to keep it out of the campgrounds. No setback whatsoever. Don't be alarmed when you come in and see a massive charred area.

Buffalo Skipper is right about the end of B Loop. Looked like a awesome place for a group hang, but you can't see the lake from there. It's kind of a hole in the woods.

Lets keep our fingers crossed for the rain chance to move on out of the forecast for that weekend
