I pulled my old DN out and without original rope, bag still attached, and 1 set of whoopies it's 1.119 lbs. (17.904 oz) 508 grams.

Thanks tncamper. I might pick one of those up. They are very comfy.
I love making my own stuff, but still have to pull it out every now and then. I definitely ain't gonna knockem.
I have thought about making my own, and I even sew but the material costs and time for me breaks even.
You could shave a good bit if you dump the bag or the clips. I just assume leave it on though, its pretty handy. Also, DON'T get the slap straps.LOL I'm guessing you have heard about them.
I ran my whoopie through the channel twice - seems to take a bit of stress off the channel. Or you can whip the end and girth hitch the whoopies on behind the whip. Either way - worth getting rid of that heavy rope/hook combo!
I think whipping it gathered end style takes comfort out of a hammock. When someone makes a hammock with a cinched end, structural ridgeline and has the bug net taught like a blackbird or HH I'll have my perfect hammock.
