    Winter Tarp

I posted some pics of the initial setup on Facebook a couple weeks ago. Since then I have had a little more time to play with the tarp and here is a brief description of some differences from most winter tarps.

I have been looking for a tarp with doors for a while, but couldn’t decide if I wanted to do a pole mod or not. After spending a couple days swapping messages and talking with Paul at AHE, he agreed to make something for me. What he decided on was half poles rather than full poles. The poles are on the outside rather than the inside to help with the chaffing of the inside of the tarp. (Not sure if that would have been an issue of not, but it will not be an issue with this tarp. The poles do not touch the tarp except at the grommets at the loop on the ridgeline.)

The use of grommets instead of pockets make the pole attachment points usable as ties out and the poles can be left in the truck. This adds a little more versatility to the tarp. I doubt I will use it without the poles, but it is nice to have options. The poles stay in place because of a loop on the ridgeline and a piece of shock cord with cord lock.

Another thing that was added was tie outs on the inside of the tarp. These are good places to tie out an asym hammock or the shelf and side tie out on a WBBB. They also allow the hammock to be tied off to the side to create working space for cooking under the tarp even when it is pulled down for a storm. They help create enough room for a couple people to get out of the elements and not feel like they are on top of each other.
It also gives me a place to hang a couple small lanterns when it is in porch mode.

This tarp is well built and very large. The coverage is just what I was after and with the 11’ ridgeline it is perfect for a WBBB or 2. I have only had this out 3 times and nothing but cold weather but I think I’m ready for the snowstorms this year.
Very nice work Paul and Thank You for working with me to get what I wanted.

Still sorting out the final details and getting the options added to the store. We should have it up in the store tomorrow.

I've been kickin' around a pole mod for my OMW tarp.. I think this would be much better idea, save running a lot of lines and save my trekking poles for possibly using on a bridge eventually. I'm definitely digging this rig
