Hennessey Hex Fly (70D Polyester) concern

I recently purchased the Explorer Deluxe via the Hennessey October clean out sale and I also ordered the Hennessey Hex fly. My other tarp is the ENO DryFly and I use the Nite-Ize Figure 9 Small plastic gizmos on all the tie outs in conjunction with a prusik loop. I have been pleased with this set-up on the DryFly and when storing I just leave the Figure 9’s on the line and bunch up the line as I pack the DryFly tarp.

The Hennessey Hex Fly seems thinner than the DryFly and I am just not use to the Hennessey material and have concern for the durability of the material. I like the corner pockets on the Hennessey Hex Fly where the tie our cord can be stored. I have made prusik loops for all the tie outs and want to use the Figure 9’s the same way I do on the DryFly on the Hex Fly. My concern is when I bunch up all the cord with the plastic Figure 9’s in the corner storage pockets, will the Hennessey Hex Fly material (70D Polyester) be durable enough over repeated use to hold up?

Oh yeah, it's plenty durable. In fact most people on here try to find even lighter fabrics.

i have the same fly only i have metal 9's i keep it in some diy snakeskins. i just sorta roll the lines lines up into the tarp and havent had any issues yet.

I've had mine for about 4 years, and, it has taken snow loads and wind. I wouldn't worry.

If you are real concerned you can put prussic loops on the lines, then you will have no hard parts to damage the tarp. If you do not want to make them Arrow head equipment sells a tarp line kit with them on the lines too.

Yeah, the 70d Hex tarp is actually a good bit more sturdy than a lot of tarps that folks use. I too use the plastic Fig 9s to tension my end lines (don't use a ridgeline with the tarp personally).

I store mine in snakeskins with the Fig 9s and cords wrapped around the bundle I make outta the skinned tarp, so there's no direct contact of the 9s with the tarp itself really. No issues using it so far.

I have the Hex tarp and I also use figure 9's for tie outs. I role them up and put them in the little pockets (which are very handy). I have noticed a little tear in one or two of the pockets from the added space needed to fit the figure 9's. Nothing to be too worried about as the little (half the size of an eraser head) hole is near the bottom of the tarp when set up. I'm having no other problems with the rest of the tarp. It has great coverage but am thinking about getting some doors to add to it for winter mode.
