Here are a couple of my indoor setups

Ok, I am pretty new to this hammock stuff but I am enthusiastic about it as all get out.

One photo is of the small sheet I made into a hammock and hung up diagonally on the kids bunk bed.

The second photo is of the hammock that my son now uses for his bed in his room. He has a small room and this really frees up some space! Plus it is cool...LOL.

The last photo is of the hammock that my wife let me put up in our living room! Can you believe that...LOL. The posts that I setup are only attached at the celiing and floor. I am going to adjust their position a little before I like where they are going to be permanently. The only problem I have now is that I have to fight the kids to actually get in one of them....

Now those are some cool shots!!!
I just hope you will be careful & really thoughtful about how you're hanging those hammocks. We wouldn't want to hear about a kid pile up on the floor<G>.
But seriously, a person can get hurt when a hammock or it's support fails. I chipped a bone in my elbow that took months to heal. I know a few others have took painful falls too.
Not trying to discourage you at all, just hoping you'll be cautious.

Yep - someone at the yahoo hammockcamping group (Ralph?) pulled a door frame out of the wall...down on him and his daughter. Just make sure it's anchored well, preferably at multiple points.

    overly cautious dad here :)

I have read most of those forum horror stories about hangings gone bad so I was paranoid about the posts for the double setup (since I knew the kids would be bouncing around in there). The posts are held upright by a bracket on the ceiling that is secured with two bolts that run LENGTHWISE through an old 1950's 2 x 6 oak roof truss. I am keeping my eye on it but I think the only way it would snap would be for the bolts to break and I think it would be hard to get forces on it that would do that.

The only think I should probably worry a little about is the bed spread I used for the top hammock. Maybe I will switch the top and bottom one since I have a little more faith in the ENO single nest that is on the bottom (I should have got the double but I am REALLY thinking about getting one of those really wide Mayan Hammocks)

My sons room is secured with a large screw in eye bolt that is goes through a piece of 2 x 4 into the wall stud. Enough for him and a couple other small kids to mess around in (I got in it and then had the wife get in with me and together we weigh @ 300lbs).

I am only sad because I wasted my first 34 years of life without hammocks!

    Adam

p.s. I can post some closeups of the attachment points of them if anyone wants.

Sounds like you put serious thought into those attachments & up right supports. That's great.
And I'm tickled to see the whole family getting into the hammock thing!!!
If you decide to take close up pictures of the attachments, they might be helpful for others wanting to put hammocks up in their house.

Here are a couple of more pictures

Ok, so I am getting a little carried away... Here are a few more close ups of the brackets I used (more details to follow). I also added a few more neat pics. I know it is hard to tell but yes, those are my kids...LOL

That's awesome. Glad you have a very understanding wife. Mine just looked at these pictures and noted how cool it was.

"That means I can do it?"

"Not a chance," as she walked away...

    Spouses just don't understand.

I do not have a hammock in my home, but for the past several weeks I have been sleeping in a hammock in my van. There are attachment points along the length of the van where the sides meet the roof. I use an inexpensive travel hammock with S hooks. This started when I needed to get out of work early to go to a concert, so camped out in the parking lot the previous night (so I could get an early start). It was really comfortable so I'm staying with it. I had been experiencing back pain as of late too, and sleeping in the hammock has helped alot with that. I keep a window partially open for some fresh air. It's nice and quiet inside the van and w/out any wind, it doesn't get too cold. Of course, the few people that I am not able to hide it from are ready to have me committed.
