I want to see some Buffalo!

I was talking about great movie with Dustin Hoffman "American Buffalo". But, I guess seeing some Bison would be kind of cool too.

Just don't try to get too close to 'em. Seems like about every year some poor tourist in Custer State Park gets mauled or killed by one. Those things HATE people, and are extremely tempermental. Getting the munchies for a Bison steak cooked rare. Yum! Which reminds me. I'll hafta stock up on some Iowa sweet corn to bring along for a sweet corn roast.

BAD NEWS! As of wed. 27 June 10 AM I read that there is a forest fire near Sheridan lake Dakota Point Recreation Area. Over `100 acres, presumed human caused. I have been Googling black hills fires for a few days keeping track of things. Not too familiar with the sheridan lake area but this looks ominous. Watching from afar, with fingers crossed. Kotatv.com is another source of info.

I have very good friends that live in Rapid City, and they just sent me this

Here’s the latest article. My friend Bubba on the fire crew says they’re getting to about 50% containment they think. It’s on the back side of Sheridan Lake at a place where the kids cliff jump. You should be fine in August, but I’ll keep you posted.

just got done with a reconnaissance mission to sheridan lake and am happy to report that we are all good

the fire burned a total of 350 acres but didn't come within about 2 miles of the campsite, in fact you can't even see where it was from there or on the drive in, atleast coming from highway 85

so withstanding any unforeseen circumstances we are 100% go

if you think you might be attending or if you have changed your plans please let me know so that i can also plan accordingly, can't wait to see those that will be attending, a good time shall be had by all
