    1/2 down quilt images

thought I'd share a couple photos of the 1/2 UQ I made this weekend. Coyote brown ripstop with Speer's 900 down.
    48long x 48wide x 24wide at head.
I have it strung up so tight just for perspective. It looks like about 2.5-2.75 inches of loft (with the differential cut baffles) and weight is 8.2 ounces. Cant wait to use it!

    question

quilt looks great, to be expected given your past work.

BUT I gotta ask, it sure does look like a snow shovel in that garage of yours. Snow, as in white stuff that falls from the sky. when it's cold. only when its cold. in fhaz????

Now, if he was just 1 1/2 hour north ( and 6000 feet higher) he would need that shovel, as they ( Flagstaff or Alpine) average more snowfall than Buffalo NY. At least they did for the 40 year averages that were calculated before this super long drought hit the west.

That looks great. I love the brown color.

Betsy, this one is basically the same principle of the Top Quilt article I submitted. The differntial baffles are easier than I thought, the bottom baffle width was 6" and the top baffle was 7". So the bottom shell was 48" and the top was 56" both tapering at different angles but the same end measurment, 48x24 respectively. A small fold to the center of the top shell at every baffle edge to take up that extra inch. You can see the gathering of the top shell and the folds in the fabric in pic #1
