I might make it... Thing1 is a double maybe.
Edit:
Checked calendar... Thing1 has a class field trip to the outer banks the day we would be returning. Smiling Face needs me to take her to Charlotte on the same day. Doesn't look good...

Nothing makes surgery more fun then making the whole room smell like a campfire. Unfortunately, they usually like you to wash with a bacterial soap before going. Just hang a clean pair of socks over the fire for a while and put em on the day of.

Arkansas is one of two likely places for a backpacking trip in March and I'm off from the 10th to the 18th so if I make it down that weekend, I'll come by.
p.s. If anyone has backpacked the Eagle Rock Loop in Ouachita and has any info it'd be appreciated. Other AK backpacking suggestions for 3 nights or so would be appreciated too.
Kyle's landing is smack dab in the middle of the Buffalo River Trail (BRT) along the ~35 mile stretch from it's beginning at Boxley to Pruitt. Without a doubt the most beautiful part of Arkansas, the part down to Kyle's is wilderness area and all of it is managed by the NPS as the Buffalo National River. Check out Tim Ernst's book Buffalo River Hiking Trails. With all these nice folks hanging' at Kyle's Landing that weekend it seems like it would be no problem working out a shuttle.....
Keg, I've done the ERL many times, great place to backpack, But make sure your knees can handle it. The last trip I took, several people blew out their knees. normally can do this in 2.5 days
Like DrPappy said, the Buffalo River Trail is a very beautiful area. 5 miles from where we are camping is a 204ft waterfall called the Hemmed-in-hollow

Or the OHT(Ozark Highland Trail) is a great place to backpack. It starts in West Ark in FortSmith and connects to the Buffalo 168miles later.
Tim Ernst has several trail guide books for Arkansas. very detailed with maps
