Tweeking my winter hammock kit for a longer hammock

I recently purchased a WL snipe hammock for my winter hanging.
This is the longest hammock I have every owned and I must say one of the most comfortable.
No calf pressure, no shoulder squeeze, very flat lay and can lay on either side or my back.

While setting this rig up on my deck, to do some 20 degree overnite testing, i noticed my UQ and UQ breathable protector were way too tight.
The UQ pressed so tight against my back I felt I was loosing some loft.
The UQP was also so tight I believe it was compressing the UQ.

With a little trial and error I ended up adding 18" of shock cord to my UQ and 12" to the UQP.

Last nights testing went very well @ 23F the only other thing I learned was a Thinsolate stocking cap is not warm enough for these temps.
Need to find my lamby.

For those of you going to a longer hammock I highly recommend you do a little backyard testing / tweeking to your kit.
It is well worth the time.

Had you trimmed your shock cord at all previously to fit your original setup?
Do you use any kind of overcover/sock?

All I have heard about the Snipe is all good, got to order one myself, and even if it takes a couple of feet of additional shock chord for the lay, and the comfort, seems to me a no brainer. Keep us posted on your endeavors.

Hi ferret, all the shockcords were stock. You will really enjoy the snipe.

I was in the market for a netless winter hammock. Still lov'n the TtoT Switchback when a bug net is needed.
Tried the Traveler and really liked the lay but could not get the TQ, pillow, etc to stay in the hammock when I would get out to water the trees
and at my age that can be 3-4 times a night (sucks getting old).
Bugged the crap out of me.
The adjustable shockcords at the foot and head on the snipe fixes this problem, everything stays in when exiting.

Hi Rip,
I love trying new hammocks and could not resist Marty's Christmas sale.
Having owned just about every gather end hammock out there I had no idea that adding a foot to the overall length and two little shockcords to the foot and head ends
would result in such a great hammock for me.
The 1.5 material has the perfect amount of stretch for my 185#. I am really glad I picked one of these up.

Good to hear about the snipe, I still get a leg cramp in left leg of the 1.7 traveler even tho its pretty comfy,,and like you,,stuff falls out when you get in and out and can be a pain if its muddy so have be alittle careful myself,,and weight wise, the snipe is dead on super light, and I am also for the longer length for the comfort issues. Been keeping up with everybody on their posts and sold myself on Snipe, just have to pull the trigger I guess and will have one before spring if not sooner. thanks for the replies. I plan on throwing a DYI bug net over mine and use it 365 days of the year.

That's funny, I got the Snipe as my new Summer hammock. Same comfort reasons, just that I'm using a Peapod for the Winter and the high walls of the Snipe create too much air space for me to warm up.

Nice Hammock, need to get more nights sleep in it. It's the only GE hammock that I've been able to sleep on my stomach in.

No ridgeLine...yet. Interestingly I'm finding a wide range of comfort with different amounts of sag. Tight or loose I can find comfort.

No ridgeline here as well. I was always knocking my hat off when I got up.
I prefer a peakbag or ditty bag hanging from the side for my small stuff.
